Ticket sales for the European leg were opened on 22 October 2021. The first leg will be visiting the Americas and Europe, starting in Costa Rica's Estadio Nacional on 18 March 2022. However, according to Coldplay's sustainability plan, these features are adapted in a way their inclusion in each show will be more considerate towards the environment: the band have stated they have been investing in "a new generation of sustainable pyrotechnics that have less explosive charge and new formulas that greatly reduce or eliminate harmful chemicals", "confetti used during the show will be 100% biodegradable and will require significantly less compressed gas for ignition than on previous tours", and the "LED wristbands will be made from 100% compostable, plant-based materials".

The tour features extensive pyrotechnic and confetti visuals, similar to Mylo Xyloto Tour and the A Head Full of Dreams Tour, including the use of third generation of Xylobands as well. They have also pledged to plant one tree for every ticket sold. For example, the band have joined forces with BMW to create the first "mobile, rechargeable show battery" to power each concert on the tour, and have announced that the tour's stage will be built from "a combination of lightweight, low-carbon and re-usable materials (including bamboo and recycled steel) that can be properly reused or recycled at the end of the tour". The plan was developed for over two years by Coldplay and a number of leading environmental experts, and features a number of innovative sustainability strategies. This vision will be realised in the Music of the Spheres World Tour: alongside the announcement, the band released a detailed plan setting out how they could have a minimal impact on the environment, resulting in 50% less carbon dioxide generated in relation to the A Head Full of Dreams Tour.
