What annoys me even more about this is yamaha made a mixer for this purpose because they got pissed off with people buying this mixer and giving them negative reviews. Then getting something to take Main Left Right to the computer. Only way to solve the problem is to move the speaker outputs from Main Out into Monitor Out. One of those functionalities was the Prefaded Listen (PFL) which sends audio to the headphones but not the speakers. To make the mixer cost effective with USB they removed functionality from the older model.
If its new enough that you can return it and buy a audio interface DO IT! Just totally the wrong product for your purpose.
